Today was our first day in the 2017 Cohort of FounderFuel. In the Canadian startup ecosystem, this is the equivalent of being drafted by the NHL! Over 200 startups have applied and only 8 were chosen to participate. It entails 12 weeks of bootcamp-style mentoring and activities where each startup comes in as a rough stone and polishes itself throughout the program.
For the next 3 months, we will go through the FounderFuel accelerator program. Essentially, this means that mentors, VCs, and seasoned entrepreneurs will drill us on our business narrative and help us accelerate our growth. It’s a sprint! A race towards betterment. A race towards building the most compelling story. The objective is to become the best version of ourselves in view of the holy day which is Demo Day.
Demo Day takes place at the end of the program. Thousands of members of the Canadian startup community, especially investors, will be present at a given venue (usually the Rialto Theater in Montreal), in order to view the pitches of the 8 startups. As a rule of thumb, in previous years most startups which pitched at DDay were able to raise a seed round, or at least, get priceless access to potential investors and strategic partners.
